SOUTH GOA

Miramar Beach also known as Gaspar Dias is a lovely golden beach of soft sand griddled with palm trees facing the blue Arabian Sea, where River Mandovi meets the Arabian Sea and a thick grove of shady palms form a dense canopy over the area.

There are a number of churches in Goa built by the Portuguese. Many magnificent churches were built by them in Old Goa which is well known for its churches.

This church is known to hold the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. This church is situated around 10 kilometers away from the new city of Panjim. 'Bom Jesus' (literally, 'Good (or Holy) Jesus') is generally a name which is used for the infant Jesus. This church is considered as the best examples of Baroque structural design in India. In the church, travelers can witness beautiful paintings with scenes which taken from the life of St. Francis Xavier.

The stunning 400-year-old Shri Mangesh temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is outstanding with its simple and elegant structure. A wonderful seven-storeyed lamp tower or deepstambha stands in the temple complex. The temple also has a beautiful water body, which many believe is the oldest part of the temple. The temple is dedicated to Bhagavan Manguesh, an incarnation of Shiva. He is also referred to as Saib (The Bhagavan of Goa) by Hindus.

The Colva Beach lies about 6 Kms to the west of Margao and is the oldest, largest and the most spectacular beaches of South Goa. The beach consists of about 25kms of the fine powdered white sand and is bounded along its coast by coconut palms that stretch from Bogmalo in the north to Cabo de Rama in the south along south Goa's coastline.
